THE SHADED CLANS
”Soon you will face Starclans wrath, and only then will you will finally know what true fear feels like.”
mossclan

Mossclan, founded by the courageous cat named Mossstar, stands as a bastion of faith and spirituality within the forest. The cats of Mossclan are deeply connected to their ancestors, trusting in the guidance and wisdom of StarClan to navigate the challenges of clan life. They hold fast to their beliefs, believing that any hardships faced by the clan stem from a lack of reverence towards their ancestors. In Mossclan, spirituality intertwines with everyday life, shaping their actions and decisions. Despite their spiritual nature, the cats of Mossclan are renowned for their stubbornness and unwavering passion, traits that fuel their determination in times of adversity. While passionate, Mossclan cats are not ones to instigate conflict, preferring peaceful resolutions and harmony within their clan and among neighboring groups. When prey runs thin, they turn to unconventional sources of sustenance, such as puffball mushrooms, a practice viewed as peculiar by neighboring clans but cherished by Mossclan.

territory
Mossclan's territory sprawls across a flat, grassy plain where the grass often towers over the cats, concealing their movements. Rarely venturing above ground except for border patrols, the Mossclan cats navigate through the dense vegetation with ease. Beneath the surface lies a hidden world of caverns, illuminated by the soft glow of bioluminescent worms. This vast underground network comprises both natural caves and the remnants of an abandoned twoleg mine, providing ample shelter and intrigue for the adventurous clan cats.
Camp - Located on the west end of their territory, Mossclan's camp is situated in an area of the mines once used by Twolegs to store their carts. The camp is primarily lit by the soft light from the glow worms, though the mine's lights occasional flicker. The caves provide natural insulation, making it a safe haven from the blistering heat or the frigid cold depending on the season.
Bat's gorge - A vast cave adorned with numerous stalactites hanging from the ceiling and stalagmites rising from the floor serves as the clan's primary hunting ground. Bats, favoring this cave as their sanctuary, make it an ideal hunting area for the clan, providing a plentiful and consistent food source.
Weeping Willow - One of the few places the cats venture above ground, aside from border patrols, is a large willow tree near the RillClan border. This tree is primarily used for training and leisure. Its strategic location often sparks conflicts between Mossclan and Rillclan, each fighting for ownership of the coveted willow.
Hollow Falls - A hidden gem that can be accessed through a small cave in MossClan's territory. This cave opens up to a spacious, sunlit area with an opening at the top that allows sunlight to stream in. Water cascades through this opening, creating a rain-like effect as it falls into a small pond at the center of the clearing, fed by a river that runs through the territory.
Wailing Crypts - Within the depths of Mossclan's caverns lies the Wailing Crypts, a place so shrouded in darkness that even the feeble glow of small glowworms refuses to breach. Inside, massive stalactites loom ominously overhead, appearing as though they could plummet to the ground at any moment. Those who dare to venture into this foreboding cave speak of whispers that seem to emanate from distant voices, yet these are not the gentle murmurs of Starclan, but rather the sinister whispers of something far darker.
Floral Ring - The Flower Ring lies at the heart of MossClan's aboveground territory, an almost perfectly circular formation of vibrant wildflowers that stand in striking contrast to the tall, green grasses. This enchanting spot is where MossClan cats come to confess their love, inspired by an old elder's tale that claims any confession made within the circle is irresistible, ensuring the beloved cannot reject the heartfelt declaration.
Leader's den - Tucked in a corner of MossClan's camp, the leader's den, once a storage room, is accessed through a small window. Despite its compact size, it comfortably fits at least four cats and serves as a strategic meeting place. In times of danger, it becomes a refuge for kits and elders, offering safety within its sturdy stone walls until the threat subsides.
Medicine Den - A modest cave concealed within the earth. Its entrance, just large enough for a cat to pass through, leads into a cavern with a towering ceiling that dwarfs the narrow opening. Towards the back of the cave, stalactites hang, dripping with fresh water. This natural feature provides a constant supply of hydration and serves as a reliable source of water for the clan's health and well-being.
Warriors' Den - Positioned at the forefront of camp, the warriors' den is encircled by rocks meticulously arranged by clan members, it offers a spacious and secure haven for the clan's warriors to rest and recuperate.
Apprentices' Den - The den is fashioned from an overturned minecart, nestled within the heart of the camp. Apprentices access their den by slipping through a hole dug beneath the cart. Though cramped, it serves as a cozy retreat for the young cats. However, during times of overcrowding, some apprentices may find themselves having to sleep in the Elders' den.
Nursery - Nestled at the rear of the camp lies a cozy retreat for the clan's youngest members. Enclosed by a low stone wall, the den features an open ceiling, allowing the glowworms soft light to filter through. Unlike traditional setups, the nursery is a communal nest crafted from moss and ferns, where kits play and slumber together. The stone walls serve as canvases for the kits' playful creativity, adorned with glowworms and an assortment of plants they eagerly gather.
Elder's Den - Adjacent to the nursery, MossClan's elders' den is accessed through ivy-hidden passage. Despite its modest size, it offers comfort to senior members. The den's humidity requires frequent nest changes due to rainwater seepage, yet within, elders find solace and companionship.
rillclan

Rillclan, forged under the quiet yet unyielding leadership of Rillstar, was founded upon the principles of conflict and territorial assertion. Renowned for their unwavering fortitude, aggressive demeanor, and graceful bearing, the cats of Rillclan command both respect and fear in equal measure. Unlike their counterparts, Rillclan holds a low regard for spiritual matters, their skepticism towards StarClan and their prophecies running deep. Instead, they carve their destiny through sheer tenacity and self-reliance, reflecting the stoic determination of their founder. While Rillclan is the least spiritual of the clans, it's worth noting that their founders were the first cats to make contact with StarClan, marking a pivotal moment in their history.
Allegiance History
territory
Rillclan's territory sprawls across a sprawling pine forest, its floor draped in the embrace of damp podzol soil. Meandering rivers carve graceful pathways through the land, enriching its lush greenery and adding to its natural allure. Nestled along the northwest border lies an expansive ocean, where the clan's territory extends to encompass significant stretches of sandy beaches that adorn the coastline, adding a touch of coastal charm.
Clan Camp - A large cave trucked away on the coast lies RillClan's camp, which can be entered by the mouth directly on the soft, sandy beach that faces the Northwest of the clan's territory. Cats are able to live here comfortably without the threat of water potentially getting inside due to the fact it is far enough away from the salty sea.
Breach Overlook - A long, winding pathway that leads from the pine forest above to the coast below, and ultimately RillClan's camp. This location is characterized by the soft beaten pathway, lined with trees and foliage on either side. If a cat looks over the edge, they will be able to see the beach below. "Breach" comes from the way that, if one looks long enough, they may be able to see a whale or two breach the surface.
Tide Pools - This location on RillClan's territory is on the furthest side of the beach that their camp is situated on. Made up of an abundance of rocks and water nestled in between them, one can find a number of interesting creatures thriving within each of the pools. Between starfish and crabs, the tide pools are an interesting place to just sit and look at the contents inside, or to hunt for smaller pieces of prey.
Rocky Stream - Consisting of a winding stream through RillClan's territory, the "stream" is actually more like a river. It twists through the length of the territory, being wider in some places and narrower in others. Its name obviously comes from its appearance, with its banks consisting of rocky terrain. In some places, small waterfalls feed into the stream and make for a rather daunting place for a cat to visit.
Water Monster - The water monster lurks along the rocky banks of the Rocky Stream, shrouded in tangled vines and immersed in shadowy depths of murky water. despite its immobility, the elder cats of the clan harbor an enduring fear of the creature, while the younger, bolder cats show little hesitation in venturing onto the water monster's domain.
Iron Trail - The elevated Twoleg train track known as the Iron Trail winds its way through Rillclan's territory. Its formerly smooth surface now tells the story of time's passage, bearing the marks rust and moss. Elders recount tales of colossal beasts that once thundered along these tracks, their presence marked by deafening screeches that echoed through the forest. But those creatures have long since vanished from the world, their roars silenced by the passage of time.
Leader's Den - Situated on a ledge inside of the clan's camp is the leader's den, tucked into a crack in the wall and closed off to the rest of camp by a thin curtain of hanging mosses.
Medicine Cat Den - Partially positioned beneath an old piece of driftwood and the overhang from the ledge outside of the leader's den belongs to the medicine cats. With mosses and old pine branches serving as a "roof", it stays covered and tucked away from camp. There are plenty ledges inside for herb storage.
Warriors/Apprentices Den - Due to the nature of the lack of other spaces in camp, the warriors' and apprentices' dens are rather connected. With the main cave belonging to the warriors, a small tunnel leads into the connecting apprentice's den, meaning that it doesn't have its own direct entrance through anywhere but the warrior's den. Even though closed off from the rest of camp, the apprentice's den has some cracks in the wall that allows natural light inside. During storms, these holes are filled with moss.
needleclan

Established by the headstrong leader, Needlestar, Needleclan stands as a testament to independence and resilience within the forest's domain. Renowned for their unwavering loyalty, withdrawn nature, and formidable strength, the cats of Needleclan navigate their solitary path with a quiet determination that commands respect from allies and rivals alike. While much of their sustenance derives from scavenged remnants left behind by larger predators—a practice frowned upon by neighboring clans—Needleclan views this resourcefulness as a badge of honor rather than shame. In their eyes, it is wasteful to allow the spoils of others' hunts to rot, and they make the most of every opportunity to ensure the clan's survival. As the pioneering clan of the forest, Needleclan stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of independence and the power of perseverance against all odds.
Allegiance History
territory
Needleclan's domain spans a mountainous oak forest, where the landscape gradually transforms into rugged terrain the deeper one ventures. Vibrant with life, the forest resonates with a cacophony of sounds, while sunlight filtering through the leaves casts a captivating mosaic of light and shadow. However, the tranquility of Needleclan's territory is juxtaposed by its proximity to a nearby twoleg place, which can pose a threat when twolegs wander too far into the forest, disrupting the natural balance of the clan's habitat.
Camp - Nestled within the heart of Needleclan's territory is their camp, an abandoned playground reclaimed by nature, now entwined in kudzu vines and bramble bushes. Amidst the structure, cats find solace in various spots like the small clearing beneath the main structure or the tire swings at the camp's edge.
Sinking Mire - The swampy border between NeedleClan and DriftClan is a mire of shifting ground and stagnant pools. Frosted grass clings to its edges, and the air reeks of decay. Some say a cat once drowned here, their bones hidden deep in the muck.
Stonepeaks - A formidable array of rugged rocks reaching towards the heavens, serve as an organic training arena for the apprentices, providing a plethora of challenges and opportunities for skill refinement. Nonetheless, caution is essential as the cats traverse this terrain, especially during colder seasons, when adders often make their home among the Stonepeaks.
Twoleg Burial Grounds - Just beyond the wire fence dividing Needleclan from the Twoleg place, lies the Twoleg burial grounds, encircled by a sturdy stone wall. Scattered across the solemn landscape are smooth, round stones protruding from the earth. Though the cats may not comprehend Twoleg speech, the somber atmosphere permeating the area is palpable. It serves not only as a resting place for Twolegs but also as the final resting grounds for departed clan members.
Moonlit Meadow - The
meadow stands in stark contrast to the rugged forests of Needleclan, its flat expanse offering a serene departure from the mountainous terrain. Bathed in the gentle radiance of the moon, the landscape is transformed into a magical realm. This enchanting space is a place of beauty and wonder, where cats often confess their affections to the cats they have an infatuation for under the silver moonlight.
Leaders den - Perched high on the abandoned playground, the leader den offers a strategic view of their territory. Cats ascend via a weathered staircase, marked by a tattered flag, or slide down for announcements from the leader at the base, their voice echoing through the hollows, ensuring all hear from this elevated position.
Medicine Den - Nestled in a secluded corner of the camp, the medicine den finds refuge within a weathered sandbox, sheltered by sprawling bramble bushes. This natural fortress ensures the safety and privacy of the healers as they tend to the needs of their clanmates, hidden from the prying eyes of outsiders.
Warriors' Den - Beneath the weathered climbing net, the warriors have reinforced the rope with vines and bramble, fashioning a sturdy shelter fit for their needs. This makeshift den provides a safe haven for the clan's defenders amidst the challenges of their mountainous forest home.
Nursery - Nestled in a separate, overgrown play structure, the nursery features two levels. The lower level provides a cozy sleeping area for the cats in the den, while the upper level offers a play space mainly reserved for older kits, accessible by a step.
Elders Den - Located in a tunnel beneath the main playground, the elders den offers a quiet retreat from the bustle above. Covered by a thick canopy of ivy at both entrances, it provides privacy and protection for the clan's elders. Inside, the ground is packed with soft moss, offering a comfortable resting place for the cats.
Driftclan

DriftClan was born from the unwavering resolve of Driftstar, a she-cat whose courage and determination united the first of the clans. They stand as the original lineage from which MossClan, RillClan, and NeedleClan eventually broke away, carrying fragments of DriftClan’s legacy with them. Yet, DriftClan prides itself on being the root of all, a testament to their strength and endurance. While DriftClan cats are not skilled fighters, their increased stamina and unmatched endurance are vital assets for their migratory lifestyle.Known for their adventurous hearts, sharp minds, and an arrogance as unyielding as the winds they follow, DriftClan is a clan of travelers. They thrive on change and exploration. Their lives are shaped by the rhythm of the seasons, migrating to follow prey and weather patterns, a practice as old as the clan itself. DriftClan’s leadership stands apart from all others, tied not to choice but to fate. StarClan selects the next leader, marking a kit of the Glacier bloodline with a special symbol on their flank. This sacred tradition ensures the strength of Driftstar’s lineage endures, keeping DriftClan bound to its proud and storied past as they roam ever forward.
winter territory
DriftClan’s winter territory is a blend of harsh tundra and rugged mountains, shaped by relentless cold and sweeping winds. The land is cold year-round, but in leaf-bare, the snow deepens, blanketing the rolling hills and jagged peaks in icy silence. The tundra stretches endlessly, painted in hues of white, gray, and frostbitten red from the hardy shrubs that cling to life. The land is a challenge to navigate, with shifting snowdrifts and treacherous icy ground, but DriftClan thrives here, their adventurous spirit and clever minds perfectly suited to this untamed wilderness.
Camp - Nestled against the mountain, where a massive cedar tree grows close to the rocky face, offering protection from behind. Boulders encircle the clearing, and shrubs and thickets grow along its edges, providing extra cover. A hidden exit tunnel lies between two rocks, and the camp’s position on a plateau offers breathtaking views, though the edges are steep and dangerous.
Canines ledge - In the far western reaches of Needleclan's territory, the Canines Ledge stands as a large heap of rocks where a wild pack of dogs resides. While its abundance of prey makes it tempting hunting grounds, the dangerous nature of the ledge deters all but the most foolish apprentices from venturing there.
Ember Gorge - The gorge sprawls across Needleclan's domain, its sheer cliffs a defining feature of the landscape. Within its rugged embrace lies the clan's main herb-gathering grounds, vital for their health and sustenance. The name "Ember Gorge" finds its origins in the breathtaking spectacle of leaf-fall, when the canyon floor is adorned with a fiery carpet of leaves, resembling flickering flames that illuminate the landscape.
Gray Shallows - A serene, frozen lake surrounded by dense thickets and draped in lichen that thrives in the frigid air. In leaf-bare, the ice stretches smooth and unbroken, shimmering faintly under the moonlight. Prey occasionally scurries along the edges, but the brittle silence makes every movement feel amplified.
Treecut Place - A scarred, leveled expanse at the mountain's base where stumps and fallen logs litter the landscape, remnants of twoleg activity. Despite the unsettling signs of intrusion, the area is a haven for small prey, especially in the warmer seasons. However, the faint stench of twolegs serves as a constant warning.
Leaders den - A hollowed owl’s nest high in the cedar tree, its narrow entrance shielding it from snow and wind. The floor is lined with cedar needles, creating a warm and fragrant resting place. From its perch, the leader has a clear view of the camp below while enjoying the solitude of this elevated sanctuary.
Medicine Den - The medicine den is a hollow between the cedar’s roots, forming a sheltered cavern. Its entrance is partly walled by a lean-to of sticks, while bark shelves inside hold carefully stored herbs. A small divot above the main chamber serves as the medicine cat’s private nest, offering them peace within their workspace.
Warriors den - A sturdy shelter built from sticks and stones, nestled against the rock wall. The floor has been dug out to create more space, padded with moss for warmth. It’s a simple yet secure retreat for DriftClan’s defenders to rest after long days of duty.
Nursery - A large, hollowed-out eagle’s nest resting high in the cedar tree. The floor is lined with soft moss, and smaller woven bird nests provide private spaces for each queen. Its entrance opens onto a wide, sturdy branch, keeping kits safely inside and away from harm.
Summer Territory
DriftClan’s summer territory is a rugged, icy expanse high in the mountains, where dense, towering pines and spruces dominate the landscape. Flat stretches of forest floor wind through the otherwise steep terrain, offering paths for the clan’s resourceful cats to navigate. Despite the unrelenting cold, prey is plentiful, and DriftClanners thrive in this harsh but beautiful wilderness, expertly adapted to its challenges.Landmarks like Ice-Bitten Lake, with its frozen surface perfect for fishing, and the treacherous Icicle Spires showcase the territory’s duality of danger and beauty. The Spruce Overpass provides natural bridges across icy gorges, while Starspeak Glacier serves as a sacred site for StarClan communion. Sheltered areas like Whittled Slate and the dazzling Shattered Sun add a touch of wonder to the harsh landscape, embodying DriftClan’s resilience and deep bond with their surroundings.

The Mossy Cliffs - Nestled along the border of Rillclan and Mossclan, the Mossy Cliffs form a rocky hill draped in lush green moss. This location serves as the meeting place for gatherings. Leaders position themselves atop the highest rocks to deliver announcements, while other cats settle below, attentive to their words.
Misty Falls - Situated on the outskirts of Mossclan's domain lie the Misty Falls. The waterfall, its cascading waters veiled in mist, creates an enchanting atmosphere that seems to blur the boundaries between the physical and spiritual realms. The clans converge upon Misty Falls for the revered Golden Moon Ceremony with the clans kits as the golden moon casts its beautiful glow on the water, symbolizing the divine presence of Starclan. Kits eagerly lap up the cool, shimmering water, yearning for the blessing of reincarnation, hopeful that Starclan will choose them.
Twoleg Place - The Twoleg Place sits along the outer edge of Needleclan and Rillclan territories, separated by a wire fence that marks the boundary. Clan cats are strictly forbidden from crossing this barrier, though occasionally kittypets dare to wander into their domains, only to be swiftly chased away by the vigilant clan cats.
Old territory
Needleclan, Mossclan, and Rillclan's territory resides in a vast and dense forest that has been given the nickname 'The Shaded Forest". The forest is so dense that sun does not shine through the treetops. Instead of sunlight illuminating the ground, glowing mushrooms and the occasional group of fireflies help the cats of the clans see around them. The clans are untouched by two-legs, and to all the thought of large bipedal creatures are as real as flying hedgehogs. The clans left the old territories in Moon 13
Needleclan
Needleclan's territory is in the least dense part of the forest. Sometimes, they are able to see and feel the warmth of the sun that the other clans are so foreign to. Because of its access to the light, predators will often make their homes on their territory. But Needlelcan takes advantage of this by scavenging the prey that these larger predators will leave around.Needleclans camp resides in a large pyramidal spruce tree. From the outside, the camp just looks like a very dense tree but underneath the branches there is a large clearing by the trees base. The cats have made a small entrance into camp by chewing a few branches off the tree so they can easily go in and out from camp.
Mossclan
Mossclans territory is in the most dense part of the forest. Even skilled navigators can easily get lost in the twisting branches and low visibility. The thick, mossy ground serves as an excelent muffler of sounds, making it easy for the cats of Mossclan to move swiftly and quietly. Mossclan's part of the forest is the best place to gather herbs--specifically mushrooms. Because of this, the cats of Mossclan will eat the mushrooms that grow when prey gets scarce.Mossclans cats made their camp in a large goose pen tree. The cats have made a large bramble wall at the opening with a small entrance for the cats to fit in. The camp is illuminated by lots of bioluminescent mushrooms.
Rillclan
Rillclan's territory is littered with small rivers and creeks that are lively with small aquatic animals. Most are shallow enough to walk through, but with the low visibility in the forest it is advised to be caution near any river even if you are a strong swimmer. The territory is rocky and uneven, making especially dangerous to travel, even if they could see well. The cats of Rillclan often do not leave camp alone since it is common for cats to get hurt or lost, even on their own territory.Rillclans camp dwells in a cave next to a small creek. The cave has an open top so you can see the trees above. The entrance and top of the cave is covered in thick brambles and thorns in order to keep predators away. All of the dens are in small caves throughout the camp
predators & prey
Predators
The most notable predators in the territory are bears, foxes, snakes, and coyotes.
Prey
The most notable prey in the territory are mice, birds, voles, and squirrels.
climate
Green-leaf
Green-leaf is a vibrant and bustling season, marked by lush foliage, warm breezes, and longer days. The territories are alive with activity as prey becomes plentiful. Cats are often seen basking in the sun-dappled clearings or lounging in the shade of leafy trees, enjoying the abundance of prey and the comfortable temperatures.
Leaf-fall
Leaf-fall ushers in a time of transition and change. The once vibrant foliage begins to change colors, painting the territories with hues of red, orange, and gold. As the days grow shorter and the nights longer, hunting becomes more challenging as prey begins to dwindle.
Leaf-bare
Leaf-bare descends with a harsh and unforgiving grip. The once vibrant forests are stripped bare, their branches skeletal against the cold, gray skies. Snow blankets the ground and prey becomes scarce, making hunting a daunting task. The air is biting, and icy winds cut through the territories, chilling to the bone.
New-leaf
New-leaf emerges as a symbol of hope and rejuvenation after the trials of leaf-bare. It's a season of awakening, where the world gradually unfurls from its wintry slumber. The forest, once gripped by the cold and barrenness of leaf-bare, begins to stir with the promise of new life.

clan traditions
Golden Moon Ceremony
Beneath every golden moon, the clans gather at Misty Falls, entreating Starclan's blessing for rebirth. It's a night of hope and remembrance, where ancestors may bless kits during their first ceremony. Kits sip from the falls, awaiting their fate. Chosen ones are graced with a celestial touch, adorned with a diamond on their forehead. At this ceremony, silence is required, as the cats hold the belief that speaking disrupts their sacred connection with Starclan.
Gatherings
When the full moon is in the sky, the clans convene at the Mossy Cliffs for their monthly gathering. Under the clear moonlit sky, there is a truce, allowing the clans to freely exchange tongues and information with each other.
Leaders ceremony
Upon a leader's passing or resignation, the deputy journeys to the Whispering Grove to receive their nine lives. There, amidst the embrace of nature, they press their claws into the soft bark of the ancient trees, surrendering themselves to the silent communion with the spirits of Starclan. As they open their eyes, they are greeted by the spectral forms of nine revered cats, each bearing significance to the deputy's journey. each cat gives the deputy a life tied to an ideal that the deputy should uphold during their leadership. Though the process is wrought with intense pain, it is an essential rite of passage, marking the deputy's ascent to the revered role of clan leader.
belief system
Rebirth
The shaded clans revere their belief in rebirth above all else. During the Golden Moon Ceremony, a kit is chosen as reborn, distinguished by the intertwining of a Starclan soul with their own, leaving a diamond mark on the bridge of the kit's nose.Only these blessed reborn possess the rare ability to communicate with Starclan, a privilege otherwise bestowed solely upon leaders during their nine lives ceremony. As such, it is imperative for Medicine cats to be reborn and it is highly encouraged for leaders to bear this connection as well.
Starclan
Starclan, a realm revered as the eternal resting place for the departed souls of the Shaded Clans. Seldom do they deign to directly engage with the living, preferring instead to convey their guidance through subtle and cryptic means. When Starclan does choose to communicate, their interactions are steeped in ambiguity and intrigue, forgoing conventional speech in favor of conveying omens through the medium of profound visions.
The Dark Forest
Dwellers of the Dark Forest manifest before living cats when they are awake. To summon the Dark Forest, one must spill blood in their name. Upon summoning, a cat may request a gift from the Dark Forest, such as strength or power. The potency of the gift is directly proportional to the power of the sacrificed cat. However, cats must tread carefully, for the Dark Forest always demands something in return. Only a select few cats are aware of the existence of the Dark Forest and the secrets of summoning it.
The Reborn
At the Golden Moon Ceremony, a StarClan cat chooses a kit to intertwine their soul with forever, allowing them to experience life once again. This process is seen as a great honor for both the living and StarClan cats. The living cat does not gain any memories from their StarClan counterpart, but they do inherit some of their attributes. When the two souls become intertwined, they merge into one and can never be separated, not even in death.Though the living cat does not retain memories from their spirit half, they may experience severe déjà vu and even dream of their spirit half’s past. However, these dreams are foggy, and they can almost never recognize the cats in them. The more a reborn cat resembles their spirit half through their actions, the farther their mark spreads. What begins as a small diamond marking above the nose can evolve into vitiligo-like markings over time.Along with the attributes inherited from their spirit half, reborn cats gain additional abilities. They have access to StarClan’s hunting grounds through visions or dreams—an ability non-reborn cats do not possess. Occasionally, a reborn cat will be able to see spirits, not just in StarClan but also roaming the living world. In rare cases, this ability is so strong that a reborn cat cannot distinguish between the living and the dead. Some reborn cats also hear faint whispers, though they can never recognize the voice. The strength of these abilities often depends on the pre-existing relationship between the living cat and the StarClan soul they are intertwined with. Strong, often familial bonds tend to result in more powerful abilities or greater control over them.In very rare cases, a living cat may have their soul intertwined with a Dark Forest cat instead. Dark Forest reborn cats gain abilities similar to their StarClan counterparts, but in a more twisted form. They can only see spirits from the Dark Forest, and the whispers and visions become a constant plague. Unlike StarClan reborn cats, their spirit half has much greater control over them. In some cases, the spirit can ‘take over,’ forcing the living cat to act against their will or making them physically ill if they do not follow in their pawsteps. Instead of the typical white diamond marking on the nose, Dark Forest reborn cats bear a black diamond that spreads much faster than the markings of their StarClan counterparts. These cats cannot contact StarClan in any way, nor can StarClan reborn cats communicate with the Dark Forest.
